London is a vibrant city known for its food, shopping and tourist attractions. Make the most of your training trip and visit the best hidden spots.
London is a vibrant city known for its food, shopping and tourist attractions. But, aside from creeping off to Carnaby Street for a spot of retail therapy or trekking over to Tower Bridge to take in the views, what else is happening in the city’s twisting streets and tiny nooks?
Destination training can provide the perfect opportunity to visit cities you wouldn’t otherwise get to explore – like London. Why not check out our 2024 schedule to see if there’s a training course and destination for you?
Visit London
If you’ve already signed up for one of our London-based training courses and want to make the most of your time in the big city but have no idea where to start, we’ve got you covered. Whether you decide to extend your trip or take advantage of your free evenings outside the classroom, here are a few of our favourite London things to get you started.
Classroom by day and culture by night
Fancy a spot of culture after a hard day of gaining lots of new found knowledge from our experts? Check out one of London’s lates. On select days, some of London’s museums and galleries open their doors later, giving you the chance to indulge in talks, workshops, DJ sets, food and drink and much more. It is the perfect way to unwind after a day of learning.
A bookmarkable London pitstop
If your interests in being buried in a book go beyond the classroom, then why not squeeze in a visit to Word on the Water? Word on the Water is London’s very own bookshop on a 100 year old barge located along Regent’s Canal. You can browse their many titles displayed outside or cosy up inside and have a read.
They also have live events such as jazz nights, talks and open mic nights hosted on the boat’s roof stage so if you’re lucky, you might get to catch one of those too!
A prince in the city
After a day of learning and networking with our experts, why not sit back, relax and take in a cult classic? Just a stone’s throw away from Chinatown is the iconic Prince Charles Cinema – the only independent cinema in London’s West End. The Prince Charles Cinema is a repertory cinema showing a range of fantastic films at a reasonable price, it also hosts sing-a-long versions of some classic films and originally functioned as a theatre.
Ready to step up to a monumental challenge?
Take in some of London’s most breathtaking views and rack up those daily steps by climbing The Monument, a 202 ft column in the City of London, built to commemorate the victims of the Great Fire of London. With 311 steps to climb before you reach the top, this is a great way to get the blood pumping while learning a bit more about London’s history and the fire that changed its landscape completely.
East Asia via the West End
London is a multicultural city which means it’s a melting pot for various mouthwatering delicacies. If you’re a fan of East Asian cuisine, then take a trip to London’s Chinatown for a selection of over 70 authentic East Asian bars, cafés, shops and restaurants for you to choose from. You can also take a wander over there to check out the pretty lanterns and the famous Chinatown gate if you’re not feeling peckish.
The perfect opportunity to explore
We know that attending destination training provides an excellent opportunity to explore cities away from home and think it’s the perfect enrichment to complement your training experience.
